The Band

Summer of 2010, Houston, Texas, a first encounter at Cactus Records, an inquisitive- lets get together and play some music-and Ancient Cat Society is born!  After savoring the sweet harmonies of ACS, it is hard to believe they have been collaborating  for less than a year.  Their  unique voices blend into beautiful folk three part harmony that moves the soul. Their songs can draw you into thoughtful reflection or can release you into a world of whimsy with playful abandon.  Look for the release of their debut full length album sometime this summer of 2011. Also don't forget to check out the trio's Americana/Rock counterpart, Buxton, and keep an eye out for their new record, Nothing Here Seems Strange, out this September 2011 on New West Records.

Haley Barnes

Picture
A simple gal from the northwest part of Houston, she loves the wonderful world of music and the way it soothes the soul. Now a member of ACS and sometimes member of Buxton, she got her start by singing in the racquetball courts with her mother and playing the dulcimer as a member of the Cane Island Volunteers - a pioneer reenactment group she joined with her father and brother. Growing up, Haley lead worship at a local church and recorded home music with friend, Cody Adams & the Hurricanes. Currently, she performs in Waco where she attends school,  leads worship at UBC Waco and has recorded with the David Crowder*Band. She's just recently put out her own little album, "Bringing Me Back" on bandcamp.  She likes cats...and Cirque du Soleil.
